Mental Health Counseling Graduate Portfolio · New York Institute of Technology
Welcome! This digital portfolio outlines my graduate journey through New York Institute of Technology's Mental Health Counseling program — the research, the training, and the clinical work shaping the counselor I'm becoming. Here you'll find my academic writing, areas of focus, and the evidence-based approaches I bring to every client I serve.
A Counselor in training: From classroom to counseling room
My journey and commitment
My path to this work wasn't a straight line — it was a steady pull. From psychology to HR to family law, every role taught me the same lesson: people are carrying more than what's visible, and they deserve support that's both compassionate and skilled. As a Mental Health Counseling graduate student at NYIT, I'm committed to providing that support — therapy grounded in evidence, shaped by cultural competence, and delivered with genuine care for the person across from me.
My areas of focus
I focus on the relationships and moments where thoughtful support makes the biggest difference: couples therapy, with particular care for neurodivergent partners; children and teens with ADHD and executive functioning needs; and adults navigating major transitions — career, family, and the kind of legal or workplace stress that follows people home. My approach is grounded in evidence-based methods (CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care and the Gottman Method) and shaped by a commitment to meeting each client exactly where they are.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Practical, evidence-based work to identify the thoughts and patterns shaping how you feel — and replace them with healthier, more grounded ways of moving through the world.
Couples Therapy
Helping couples — including neurodivergent partners — strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and reconnect through evidence-based methods like the Gottman Method.
Trauma Informed Care
A gentle, paced approach for clients carrying difficult histories — focused on safety, choice, and rebuilding a sense of self at a pace that honors what you've been through.
Children, Teens & ADHD Support
Supporting children and adolescents with ADHD and executive functioning needs to build focus, confidence, and the everyday skills they need to thrive.

My academic journey
My path as a mental health graduate student at NYIT has been a transformative experience. I've engaged in rigorous coursework, insightful research, and practical applications, all aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of human psychology and effective intervention strategies.
Insights and perspectives
A look at the research that shapes my work — papers exploring trauma's lasting effects, evidence-based assessment tools, and culturally responsive counseling. These reflect the same curiosity and care I bring to every client I see.
